Critical: Barbados runs on 230V single-phase — not US-style split-phase
Most Caribbean countries (Jamaica, Bahamas, PR, Belize) use US-style 110/220V split-phase. Barbados doesn't. If you import a split-phase inverter for Barbados, your inverter will not connect to BLPC properly and most appliances will malfunction. This is the #1 mistake new solar buyers make on the island.
What "230V single-phase" means for your solar order
Barbados follows the British/UK electrical standard: 230V single-phase, 50 Hz. Your inverter, charge controller, and any AC-coupled equipment must be specified for this standard.

What matters for solar in Barbados
Voltage: 230V single-phase, 50Hz (UK standard)

Hurricane risk: lower than northern Caribbean
Barbados sits at 13°N, south of typical hurricane tracks. Most years see no direct hits. Standard mounting + wind-rated rails sufficient. No need to pay Bahamas-level hurricane premium.
FIT vs Net Billing — pick one
BLPC offers either Renewable Energy Rider (FIT, 20-year) OR Net Billing (offset your bill). Cannot do both. FIT pays better if you have surplus production.
BNSI & FTC compliance
Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) certifies installers; Fair Trading Commission (FTC) approves FIT contracts. Sunchees provides BNSI-compatible documentation.
